Washing hands

Of course we understand that you might be worried about your pet in these unusual times. So we want to re-assure you on a number of points and to give you guidance on keeping all members of the family – including the four-legged members – safe in the current environment…

So we’ve prepared the following advice for all pet owners to help get through this time;

  • Pets Do Not Spread COVID-19

There has been “Fake News” spreading that dogs and cats can spread the virus. Unfortunately, this has led to the abandonment of many household pets across the world. There has been no scientific evidence to back up these claims.

The World Health Organization currently reports there is “no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the new coronavirus.”

  • If Others Will Be Caring for your Pet

If the unfortunate circumstance arises that you are positive for Corona virus and will be having someone else taking care of your pet, make sure all necessary items are cleaned before giving them to a third person. This includes; collar, leash, food and drinking troughs etc.

Here at Arkvet are goal is to continue serving our community with business as usual, however we will need to all work together to practice Social Distancing and limit footfall where possible.

One way to help us do this is to use our online pet food and/or medication request forms – we can have everything you need prepared for your arrival and avoid unnecessary trips if your items are not yet available.

You can find a form for each relevant practice here – make sure you use the one that’s handiest to your location;

Thanks and stay safe!
